Saturn is a planet that gets the work done. It clears unhealthy behaviors, people, and mindsets from our individual lives and from the societal conversation. Saturn moved into Aquarius at the end of 2020, after a 3ish year cycle where it got into the nooks and crannies of money, power, and infrastructure. You know when you are deep cleaning a space and in moments it is much messier than when everything was in its hidden weird corner? This happens on a cosmic scale with Saturn. As we entered 2021, our cosmic piles of shit to sort through were saturated with abuses of power, incredible financial strain, and obvious sweeping issues with the people who are voted in to work for us, protect us, and make legislation with the common person in mind. In one month, the president was impeached, the stock market was commandeered to redistribute incredible wealth, and land protections were put into place instantly by a new head of the country. There is more of this energy to come- and we know it. Saturn will kill the unrelenting unhealthy tendencies in our own lives, and in the world at large, with the guidance of community-centered, humanitarian and environmentally conscious movements.
Uranus is planet that is neutrally chaotic. It is in Taurus, where it has been since 2018. Taurus is all about comfort and tradition, and as Uranus rips through this sign, we see age-old mindsets flipped upside down for examination. In our personal lives, this could mean a sudden shift away from roles that you have played forever. This could mean a 180 on a topic that you have held the exact same beliefs on for your lifetime. This could mean that you have always hated broccoli and now you like it made a certain way- it doesn’t have to be profound to be a change, it is an all encompassing opportunity to look at the things we have known forever and see them from a different angle. Sometimes this new view is only that, a different perspective that exists- other times it is worthy of growth and deep processing. Understanding for yourself what moves you want to make because of new information is the challenge with this planet.
This month, on February 17th, these two planets form a perfect square. Squares in astrology are difficult aspects that create necessary change. These two planets are square about every 20 years-, which makes this a fairly important alignment. In our own lives, there will be some surprise turns. In these surprise turns, it is helpful to turn to your community and the world around you for guidance and potentially life altering help. Pause and ask around before spending lots of money on unfortunate surprises- people may want to give you something or sell it to you for very cheap. No matter what, during this time, asking for help will produce a deep sense of connection to community. On a bigger scale, there may be major upsets this month that we see actual change around through the rest of the year. In our government there could be division that can only be met with compassion and consideration of the humanity of the opponent. People on the “right” side have to embrace people, as they are shocked to find out that the only way through difficult change is togetherness. This planetary alignment is destructive as a rule, but in these two signs, it has the potential to uproot stubbornly held, outdated traditions that are no longer serving us. In this discomfort, be careful to move with consideration of your fellow beings and the future in mind.
ARIES AND ARIES RISING
The new moon on the 11th of this month joins the sun, Saturn, Venus, and mercury retrograde in your house of community and friendship. Aries, this is an interesting time for all of these planets to be in this position, because it will remind you of where you belong. After a year of distance and grief, take this time to remind yourself who your people are. This could be as simple as dusting off Zoom happy hour from a year ago, or organizing a neighborhood-wide food exchange. Connection and love are what motivate you, and if you are feeling especially distanced, spend quality time doing as much as you can with the people who love you. The square of Uranus and Saturn on the 17th will affect your relationship to self-worth and money, make sure that you prepared to leave the people, places and things that make you feel less worthy than you are. If you aren’t getting paid enough, praised enough or feeling free enough, how can you move things around to feel better? This is a time of un-sticking, be ready for what is available when you don’t HAVE to stay.
TAURUS AND TAURUS RISING
On the 17th, Saturn in Aquarius makes a perfect square to Uranus in your sign. The chaotic energy of Uranus has been in your sign for a few years, but with this square from Saturn, you will feel a need to buckle down on some of the surprising ways that Uranus has affected your life. If you have been growing something creatively, this is a time to create routine or invest in creative pursuit. Time, energy and money are all investment opportunities- block out time every week to make something, create a website to sell your work, put it out into the universe on a larger scale than your immediate circle- if you build it they will come. On the opposite end of this square, there is also a deep need for unique experiences in the work you do on a regular basis. Asking for different responsibilities, reorganizing work spaces, or getting involved in other elements of your profession will help your job satisfaction grow exponentially. Do not be afraid of the unknown, it will only enrich your experience with this cosmic alignment.
GEMINI AND GEMINI RISING
When we were kids there were all kinds of stories of people who went on some epic journey to “find themselves”. It felt like at some point, we could go somewhere, arrive at the knowledge, and be done with this process. Gemini, the stars align this month to ask you where you have arrived and what needs to grow from there. Whether your dreams are a sparkle in your eye or a fully realized reality, it is important to understand where you are in the journey, honor how far you’ve come, and open yourself up to the road ahead. In practical terms, whether you are living comfortably or struggling, there is more to come and more to learn with these planetary alignments. Take a class. Plan a trip to somewhere you’ve never been- especially if the trip helps you adventure into your own spirituality. Turn off the news and watch something hopeful or light. Take a moment away from your reality and meditate on what you want to grow into.
CANCER AND CANCER RISING
By yourself or with the person you trust the absolute most, take an inventory of where you stand with these four themes: sex, death and grief, birth and resiliency, and your psychological relationship to money. There is a planetary traffic jam in the house that rules these themes this month, and it is important that you know where you are in this exact moment. Maybe six months ago you had a completely different idea about your own identity, but within social isolation you have grown to know yourself better. Maybe you were assigned psychological responses to these major life themes through religion or familial lines, and you are questioning. This is personal knowledge, you do not need to broadcast (unless you want to) where you are now, but it is deeply important that you see yourself and what you want to put some emotional energy into. The spectrum and impact of these eureka moments can be small- acknowledgement that you are spending money in ways that ultimately stresses you out- or large- the afterlife looks different than what you were taught or believed. Grief has shaped our collective year, where are you now in relationship to where you have been?
LEO AND LEO RISING
For most of this month, the sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn are all in opposition to your sign. Energetically, all of these planets in opposition to your sign will be a little confusing. You will feel equal parts chill and restless, inspired and too mellow to do much about it, and pressured to do it all. The new moon on the 11th is a good time to get grounded in this tornado of energy and set some goals for the year ahead. Tell someone your feelings for them. Go sit in a hot tub and make a grocery list. Treat luxury and relaxation like a job, because without some mellow feelings in the forefront, you will not get much done. The full moon on the 27th is an especially important time to pay attention to your finances. Be careful of scams and keep track of your cash- there is a sort of abandon ship energy with your money with this full moon, make sure you don’t have actual holes in your pockets.
VIRGO AND VIRGO RISING
On the 17th of this month, there is a square between Uranus and Saturn. This may not be something you like to hear, Virgo, but this will promote chaos and surprises as a means for change in your life. Think about the things you are feeling especially stuck in and bored with. What if you did the opposite? Terrible advice right? There are non-negotiables in our lives, we have to continue to have shelter and food, work is pretty important, and we need sleep. What if instead of waking up real early to maintain your routine you slept in for a couple days? Hired or traded someone to come clean your space so you have one less thing to do? Took a day off from work to be outside? It is pivotal to shake things up this month. The full moon on the 27th lands in your sign and will bring a lot of big feelings to the surface- let them out.
LIBRA AND LIBRA RISING
You thrive most when you are vibing with other people. Even introvert Libras are this way, collaboration is an incredible strength of your sign, and without the beauty that other people bring, you can feel very uninspired. This month there are five planets in your house of mothering and home. This is a rebirth of your purpose and personal drive. Maybe this means that you find safe ways to see friends and make something together, or maybe it means you spend time alone creating something from your heart for the people you love. You are the center, and reminding yourself why YOU are the most important is key. A challenge: make something that you want and either keep it or give it to someone. This may feel silly as an exercise but focusing on your own wants and needs over what you think someone might like or need is the point. On the 6th, Mars moves into your house of psychology and with it comes some changes to your daily routines that may have you deep in your feelings. The sooner you name these feelings the better- this alignment may make you feel a little heavier than you’d like.
SCORPIO AND SCORPIO RISING
The new moon on the 11th joins the sun, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury in your house of home signifying a big change within your household. This could mean a move, a big refresh of your home space, or something major in your family. While change in this part of our lives can feel vulnerable the planets are more on the side of “good” and “right” than doom and gloom. On the 17th, Uranus makes a square to Saturn. Uranus is in opposition to your sign when this square happens, which will mean some pretty important opportunities are coming for you in unexpected ways. Keep your antenna up and your heart open- whether you are ready or not, big change is coming, and its ultimately for the best even if it appears in ways that seem scary at first.
SAGITTARIUS AND SAGITTARIUS RISING
This month there is a new moon joining several planets in your house of communication. This is an indication of a fresh start in your mindset- which could mean your daily life looks very different. If you have wanted to take or teach a class, this is an ideal time to get the ball rolling for the best outcomes. With this new moon, you will also have a need to say something. The audience could be your followers on instagram or the country- it is important that you share your wisdom, views and what you know. The full moon on the 27th may bring some unwanted attention to your professional life- a negative review, bad customer, weird interaction with a coworker- be chill. This too shall pass.
CAPRICORN AND CAPRICORN RISING
This month, the sun, new moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn are in your house of self-worth and your value system. After the last couple years you’ve had, it is a moment for an extremely deep dive into self-care. This self-care should run the gambit of a moisturizing mask to inspection on how you are speaking about and to yourself. It is natural, as a defense mechanism against grief, to be harsher on yourself and the world around you, but this is an opportunity to ease up on that tendency. Take some time to map out the ways you feel successful and write down some goals for the coming year. The planets in this placement are undercover, people may not fully realize the chrysalis stage you are in, but ask for some gentleness, as you take better care of your body and heart.
AQUARIUS AND AQUARIUS RISING
Until the 17th, the sun will be in your sign. The sun illuminates where we are- this can be like turning on the lights at bar closes where you’re like “oops not where I meant to be” or like a gentle sunset where you’re like “sure I can see, but its mellow”- it’s really dependent on how deeply you want to inspect. This would be a good time to open your brain and heart up to process through where you are and where you are going, but if you need to take some time to just feel the warmth of the sun that is also appropriate. Venus will be in your sign until the 24th; all the love will come to you. Ask for what you want, pay attention to who is there to give it and who refuses to take the call. On the 17th, Saturn in your sign squares Uranus, bringing some surprising and quick attention to your work and personal lives. Chaos creates a better outcome in this instance, even if it seems like the opposite of what you want to happen.
PISCES AND PISCES RISING
You are the most socially spongy sign on the astrological wheel. You feel the feelings of the world around you- of course sadness and pain are the heavier burdens to bare, and you carry them much more often than you may realize. This month, the new moon on the 11th prompts a huge spiritual unloading. A new beginning to a brighter spiritual path. With this energy, it is important to understand where your emotional energy is being dumped out and adjust accordingly. On the 18th the sun enters your sign, which may clarify and brighten which people and places deserve your attention. The full moon on the 27th may bring some drama in your love life. It is a passing energy, make sure not to make too big of a deal unless you mean it.
